Vidas Cambiadas 2018
Vidas Cambiadas means "Changed Lives". With each passing year, more lives are being transformed. The local people of Cabo San Lucas live day to day with very little, yet instead of simply trying to survive and take care of themselves, we teach them the joy in giving to others and receiving with gratitude. Each year, tourists come and help support us by shopping for groceries, packing hundreds of bags, and giving them to the people in a way that teaches both the local people and the tourists how to give to others.
Pictured above is Joanna giving clothing donations to Sara. Joanna has been coming each year to Cabo and cannot miss a year. She has been drawn to the joy she experiences in giving to others and the love she receives from everyone she meets. When we give clothing, we learn each persons sizes, favorite colors, their styles, and we try to match each item specific to them. By doing this, we show them that each of them is special to us.

We give a big thanks to everyone who has continued to donate clothing. Each item is perfectly selected for the right person, and they all receive their new clothes with joy showing them off the next time we meet.
We teach the children to serve the adults. They all run to gather together in a line and one at a time serve food to the adults. We teach the adults to respond with a thank you and give the children a hug. This creates a special special connection between the children and the adults. The children learn that serving is fun and look forward to this part of our program the most. It gives them a role and makes them feel loved.
After serving a gourmet meal and giving groceries, we end the night with a short concert. Pictured above is little Gianna, 7 years old, singing her new song, "O Mio Babbino Caro."

When Michelle and Grace sing, they reach out to the audience and embrace them. Often times, many of the young girls cry as they hear the words "you're beautiful" being sung to them. Many of the children come from broken families along with the adults. Young and old cry and wipe their tears as they are touched by the music. Michelle reaches out giving us and singing directly to each person. The special embrace makes each one feel special and loved.
Just one moment in a person's life can transform their future. We choose to make the most of each moment we have to love the people. A simple hug can make all the difference.
After 7 weeks you can see a dynamic change between the time when everyone first arrived. Everyone now sees each other as family. We may have entered in a strangers, but we certainly leave as family. |
