Rescue Missions
Since Covid-19 hit Cabo San Lucas in late March, 2020, businesses were shuttered and people went into quarantine. As the border closed down, tourism was completely shut off. As this community relies on tourism for their livelihood, the people here were left without daily work and pay. Cabo San Lucas appears to tourists as a wealthy resort town. However, most locals receive a tiny wage that they rely upon for their daily food.
As we reached out to the people we knew, we learned how bad the situation really was. Many were cooking with firewood without even enough money for gas. Most lived on beans and rice and resorted to selling what they could to provide for their basic needs. It took deliberate investigation as many were ashamed to tell us how they were personally suffering. Even those with regular jobs and businesses were suddenly unable to provide for their families. This gave us the opportunity to reach out in God’s love and deliver life-saving groceries, gas, water, diapers, work, and more.
Through these photos, we are bringing you with us to experience the relief and joy of many sweet people receiving necessities, love, hugs, and hope! Our missions extend to the brave police and military coming from around Mexico to help the suffering people of Cabo during these difficult times. Although a small percentage of tourists are now arriving, the rescue missions continue into 2021 as the wake of Covid-19 still continues.
